OFFERINGS FOR fall 2023

I help facilitate home school curriculum for middle- and high-school students one-on-one, as well as help traditional school students in areas where they need assistance (typically math, reading, writing). Since the pandemic, I have adapted most student work to virtual, having smoothly utilized online tools for productive teaching, communicating, and sharing materials. I am continuing virtual tutoring offerings for 2023. If you are in San Diego and particularly looking for in-person time with your child, please reach out and we can discuss in-person options, as I still offer this on a case-by-case basis.

• As a certified teacher with classroom experience, I can offer one-on-one assistance with existing school work, teach on topics students may struggle with, and/or bring additional and customized materials for deeper practice in core subjects. I also help facilitate homeschool curriculum for homeschoolers. I differentiate instruction for different levels, learning styles/paces, and IEP learners.

• Additionally, I create customized summer (or school-year additional support) reading, writing, and math supports for students who may struggle in these areas and could benefit from additional skill-building outside of school work.

• I build strong rapport with students and provide a caring, structured, one-on-one adult relationship. (Parents sometimes need a “good cop” so they don’t have to play “bad cop” when it comes to school work!)

• I focus on core subjects for upper elementary, middle, through 9th grade, as well as ELA and writing help for all grade levels.

• I check in frequently with parents, detailing what the student has been working on, struggling with, or excelling in, with recommendations for any additional supports or strategies going forward.

BEYOND HARD SKILLS: TEACHING WITH PRESENCE

The greatest lesson I’ve learned as a teacher is that we teach with our presence. Beyond the content of what we teach, how we show up for others—helping them feel seen and heard, helping them gain confidence—is the thing that leaves the greatest and most lasting impact. In my own feedback from students, my proudest accomplishment is when time and again I hear how I have helped students become more confident as learners and individuals.
