A New World

I ogle plants from outer space

like an alien tourist --

succulents, cacti, seussical trees.

Palms + Christmas lights

feel decadently, paradoxically

irreverent.

The sunshine gives the air a different flavor:

lighter, brighter.

It hits the palms

and the Spanish adobe walls

and charms.

I look up

breathe in

and fall in love.

I adore it here.
