The Path

There are thorns in the jungle

and dark recesses

beyond the forest of the mind

way deep down

places you had an inkling of

but would rather not traverse.

But these dark pockets

of shadow and shame

can be walked —

the only way out is through.

Go bravely,

shine your wavering lantern —

there are fields flooded with light

and roses

on the other side.
