Cross-country #colormood

The shades change
as I move west,
an ombré of thousands of miles.
First white --
stark, frozen.
Then brown --
dusty fields and roads,
endless graveyards of corn.
Then the flat top rocks begin to rise
and the adobe colors become dusty
and dotted with turquoise.
Then red --
towering craggy rocks.
And green --
cacti standing sentinel.
And then, after thousands of miles...
Begins the light, bright
Technicolor romance of my new home --
sun,
palm,
flaming bougainvillea,
bright citrus,
pacific blue.
And a place to rest.
